Advantages of Remote Sensing
Remote sensing offers numerous advantages for agriculture, enabling efficient and sustainable practices. It allows for precise monitoring of crop health, soil conditions, and resource utilization, leading to improved yield, reduced input costs, and minimized environmental impact. Additionally, remote sensing facilitates early detection of problems like pests and diseases, allowing for timely interventions. Under controlled conditions, remote sensing can provide fundamental biophysical information, including X, Y location, Z elevation or depth, biomass, temperature, moisture content, etc.
Limitations of Remote Sensing
Remote sensing science has limitations. Perhaps the most significant limitation is that it is often oversold. These include restricted spectral range, coarse spatial resolution, slow turnaround time, and inadequate repeat coverage. Furthermore, data quality issues, resource constraints, and timeliness challenges can hinder its effectiveness.
